Description

Petrali are traditional sweets from the city of Reggio Calabria and are made especially during the Christmas season. The recipe has very ancient origins, with a definite Arab influence—like many desserts from Southern Italy’s tradition. They are prepared with a soft shortcrust pastry that encloses a triumph of flavours: dried figs (the main ingredient), toasted almonds, walnuts, candied orange paste, sultanas… in short, a true delight for the palate.
